I recently just discovered the show and I know what you all are thinking - you're either thinking the show is corny or you're thinking you have no idea what I'm talking about.
First of all, it doesn't help that Nick Lachey is the host. Despite his good looks, he really should've stopped after the Newlyweds. That, or he should start carefully choosing the type of singing shows he hosts. For instance, remember the High School Musical TV show? No? Well, I do. And I'll admit it, I shamefully watched a good 3 episodes before pulling the cord on it. But I have to say, I think he's making a comeback with this one.
The panel of judges are some of the top dogs in the musical industry:
(1). Ben Folds-The Musical Genius
(2). Shawn Stockman-The Perfect Pitch Boy of Boyz II Men
(3). Nicole Scherzinger-The "Paula" of the group but hotter
Anyways, what's my point with this post? I'm just saying don't knock it till you try it. I may be biased, since I always had an affinity for acapella (I think it may have started back in my high school years after watching UPenn Off the Beat and Full Measure). But there's something about acapella that makes you appreciate music more. It's the concept. It's stripped naked from all the instruments and the over production that's been done so often in music these days. It's raw and it's pure. So, just try. Try it on. Look out for the beat boxers. They're my favorite (I secretly wish I could beat box. Forreal.)!!
