The Sequel

"Did you write in your journal today?"

Ever since I can remember, this question was consistently repeated after dinner in what I would like to call the inevitable sequence of three- 1) How was school today?; 2) Did you do your homework?; and 3) Did you write in your journal today? With a lack of motivation due to this simple perfunctory ritual, writing in my journal became a chore. Little did I know, my mother was only honing a passion that would develop later in my life--writing. Three-sentence entries in those hot pink diaries with a lock & key soon became teeny-bopper heartfelt paragraphs, which led to emotionally discharged scapegoat pages of thoughts and feelings. I have a stack of notebooks and diaries currently collecting dust somewhere. Xanga and Tabulas had been my early college online journal buzz. Since then, I have graduated. Both from school and journaling...until now.

So here is the sequel to many years of journaling--Through the Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscopes are probably one of my favorite inanimate objects (also in line with salt & pepper shakers but i digress, this calls for another entry). Many times we live our lives looking at the world around us with jaded and unappreciative eyes. Kaleidoscopes can distort an image, our world, by showing us through different lenses a beauty that was or is there underneath the corroded and corrupted factors of this world. It forces us to see with new eyes.

Welcome to Google's wonderful world of online blogging. Now really, what really is the difference between blogging and journaling? I haven't got the slightest clue, but the only conclusion I can come up with is 'blogging' appears to be the mature term for 'journaling'. Last month I jumped on Google's empire of gmail, gchat, and now this. Another birthday has passed, and another 'adult' accessory has been picked up--do not fail me blogger!
